I’m going a bit Halloween mad this year! When I was a child we didn’t go trick or treating or celebrate Halloween, but as I’ve had children and they’ve got older we’ve had a great tradition of trick or treating together. This year is going to be a bit different, so I’m thinking of activities and ways we can do it safely. One way is to still go on your usual trick or treat route, but instead of knocking on doors, you do a treasure hunt instead, and the rewards are the sweets and chocolate they would normally get. It does require your neighbourhood getting involved and decorating their houses as normal, which I think most people are doing anyway.
I’ve designed a printable for us to use and I’m sharing it with you guys so you can join in the fun. If the weather is bad or you don’t want to leave the house, you can still do it at home, just make pictures or props if you have them and hide them around the house and garden. Get the children to go and find them all and the first one to bring all the items wins, or they all get a prize for each item. The poor kids this year have been through so much it’s only fair they have a bit of fun.

I have seen people talking in a local Facebook group about decorating the outside of their houses so children can do something like this. It is such a good idea x
