I’ve been getting stitch fix clothes boxes for a few months now with varying results so I thought I’d share with you the service and the types of clothes you get with them.
What is Stitch Fix?
Stitch fix is a clothes subscription box where a stylist picks out clothes and accessories for you according to your specifications and then you try before you buy at home. If you don’t like anything, you just send it back Freepost. It already has the label in and you can send it back via your local post office.
So, what’s the catch?
Well obviously they are trying to sell clothes, so they try and get it right for you so you buy something. If you buy one or more items, you only pay for what you buy, and if you buy all the items, you get a discount. If you buy nothing, you don’t pay for the clothes but you do still pay for the stylist fee which is £10.
I used to have a similar account with Lookiero, which is another clothes box with the same premise, but I found I was sending everything back more than buying anything and getting annoyed at paying out £10 for nothing. Stitchfix I find suits me better.
Does it have to be monthly?
You can choose how often you receive a box, so if monthly is too often for you, you can change it to every 2 or 3 months instead. It works better if you tell the stylist via a note what you need or what sort of things are missing from your wardrobe.
After my first box, I told them I wanted a complete outfit including shoes and jewellery and they sent me exactly that and I kept everything. Now I’m in need of a new belt or two and a long-sleeved white top so I told them that too. It’s easily done from your account section on the website.
I get excited when the box comes, the clothes come wrapped in brown paper with the logo on it and it all comes in a big cardboard box. All the packaging is recyclable. These are my most recent items, and I kept them:
I’ve also received some new tops. The last box I got was so nearly right, it had a gorgeous navy blue coat with fur-trimmed hood in, but it was a little tight across the chest. There was also a nice brown tweed style skirt but again it was a bit small. Perhaps I overindulged at Christmas! I’m looking forward to my next box.
