Welcome to my new site! It’s me, Jenny from Midwife and Life. As I’m no longer a practising Midwife, it felt disingenuous to continue under that name, so I’ve taken the plunge and started a new domain, changed all my social handles and everything. I figure Life and the Lords will grow with me even after the children leave home. I plan to blog until I can’t anymore.
I’m using Blogtober as a fresh start and to create lots of new posts for this site along with some redirects of my old content. The prompts this year are all from song titles, which you can interpret however you like. I can’t help but hear the song from the title! So a little introduction to me and my family:

Me, Jenny Lord. I’m the Mum and wife, I’m 44 and live in Kent. I work as a Nurse now in a local nursing home one or two days a week and the rest of the time I’m a blogger, Mum of three, chief napper and watcher of TV trash. Love Island USA is my current favourite. I also like true crime, documentaries and health programmes like Ambulance.
Then there’s my husband who prefers to be mostly anonymous, but he sometimes shows his face! My eldest is William, he is 11 and has just started secondary school. It’s big and scary, but he’s doing really well. He loves Minecraft, Roblox and generally computers. Phoebe is next, she’s 9 and my sweetest, easiest child. She’s so sunny and good natured. I am hoping she doesn’t go rogue in her teenage years. Daniel is the youngest at 5 and he was such a whirlwind from the day he was born! He has calmed down a bit now and will entertain himself. He loves giving warm hugs, like Olaf.

We have two pets, Monty the big black cat who gives zero f*cks about most things and Archie, our golden cocker spaniel. He will have his first birthday in October so expect a party celebration. I’m completely in love with him, he’s my fourth baby. I promise not to say fur baby ever though (apart from that one time).

We’re just about to embark on a massive home renovation, a rear extension and a loft extension at the same time, so I’ll be blogging that along the way. The plans have just been submitted so I’ll keep you posted.
I think that’s it for now! I’ll be back tomorrow and I’m looking forward to connecting with everyone.

What an adorable doggo! Your family sounds lovely.
Welcome to Blogtober! I am honoured that we are at the start of your new blog journey, and so lovely to hear more about you and the family, I also promise never to use the word fur baby but Bree is like child number 8!
Looking forward to hearing more throughout October, the house renovations sound scary but exciting.
Ohh! I saw the photo at the top and thought I recognised you. Good luck with this new blog. I changed my blog name a couple of years ago when I moved house and went for a name which will still work when my girls are all grown up.
So lovely to learn more about you and your family x
Hi there, looking forward to following your Blogtober posts. Good luck with the challenge.
Congrats on your new start on the blog! I’m looking forward to seeing your posts throughout the month
Lovely to see a friendly face taking part in Blogtober, it is lovely to find out more about you good luck with the challenge
Sounds like you have an exciting time coming up.
Archie is adorable.
Good luck with the new blogging start.
Lovely take on the prompt. I love medical shows, documentaries and true crime too, though I don’t usually watch TV. I tend to listen to podcasts instead. Anyway Archie sounds so cute! I never use the term fur baby either, but that may be because we only have a cat and he doesn’t care much.
What a great way to introduce your new blog, I can’t wait to hear more about your new ventures.
Love the new blog name and how it gives you so much room for blogging about different topics! Lovely to get to know you and your family too. x
Aw wow, a big change from your old job then! Looking forward to seeing more, my eldest also just started secondary school – I think I was more worried than him though! X
Oooh we have a Monty too – Mine is a bonkers white boxer though hehe! #Blogtober
