Monday Happy List

I’ve decided to write a Monday happy list. Reasons to be cheerful, positives of the week before and good news stories. There’s so much doom and gloom around that I think I and anyone reading needs it. Fancy joining in? Let me know if you do. So, what was good last week for us?

We got out and about

We went on a couple of dog walks as a whole family, which can be a mission in itself. My 11-year-old is a pre-teen disaster zone and has to be bribed to get out of the house, but he likes it when he does. I love it when we all go out together and it gives us all a reset.

Home school went OK

We managed a week of home school and I think some learning went on. The school are doing better at providing work and have included some video content. My younger two go to school in person two days a week which also helps. I feel more positive about home school this time around.

The covid vaccine is being rolled out at work

I have already received the first dose of the pfizer vaccine (I work part time as a nurse in a nursing home) and now the majority of the residents have all received the Oxford vaccine. That gives me such hope for the future.

My new calendar arrived

There’s something special about a new year starting. I have two diaries: one for my work with a page a day in and one for home organisation and appointments. Our calendar finally arrived, it has space for each family member and I really like the design.

We booked a holiday

Fingers crossed we will be able to go on it! It’s booked for August so I’m hopeful. We have insurance and there’s a covid guarantee so if we have to cancel it shouldn’t be a problem. We’re going to a resort called Magic Robin Hood in Benidorm, all-inclusive. It’s given me something to look forward to. I am a real fan of Once Upon A Time and the Robin Hood theme was perfect, plus it has everything we need as a family.

Positive news stories

The covid vaccine is being rolled out, mass community testing is going ahead so I can see light at the end of the tunnel. Trump is on the way out so I’m hopeful America will heal its wounds. Global warming isn’t as bad as we thought, or it can be slowed/reversed. Mankind has already emitted enough carbon dioxide to blow past internationally agreed limits on warming – that’s the bad news. The good news is that this baked-in heating could take longer than previously thought to take effect, which will buy us time to adapt and develop technological climate fixes.
