It’s been a month since I opened my Etsy shop and I started sharing the journey with you. So, how’s it going? Am I inundated with orders and have I quit my day job? Booked that holiday? Well, no. I haven’t had any orders yet. For the first 2 weeks, I concentrated on getting the designs right and the image sizes for the listings. Now, I feel confident in my designs and I have enough to offer a wide range of pregnancy planners. I have four active listings and two more in the draft phase. I have a blonde caucasian design, a dark-haired caucasian, an Asian and an Afro-caribbean pregnant woman design with slightly different colour schemes. They all offer the same ten pages:
- Week-by-week journal pages
- Space for appointments including questions to ask
- Letter to my baby
- Vitamin/medication tracker
- Baby names idea list and favourite names
- Hospital bag list page
- Birth plan
- Fluid tracker
- Blank notes page
The next phase I am focusing on is promotion and search engine optimisation. It’s pretty simple, if you’re searching, for example, coffee neon signs, you will need to create content and keywords around those words and topics. I have written a post on my pregnancy and parenting blog, Midwife and Life entitled ‘11 things to do when you find out you’re pregnant,’ for a bit of content marketing, and I’ve included the links to my shop. I am debating whether to pay Etsy for promotion, to see whether I get any return. I will probably do a trial ad and see how it goes.
I have a TikTok I am planning to do as well to see if that gains any traction. I just need to get it out of my head and into the camera!
I have had some views to the shop, but it hasn’t translated into sales yet. I will keep you updated. This is the main photo I have on the listing, I quite like it, what do you think? I switch out the images according to the design on the listing.

I will admit that life gets in the way at the moment as I said last time, it isn’t my main focus so I can’t pour all my energy into it, but I am enjoying the process. I am also planning to add in ready-made social media templates for birth workers soon, and I’m excited about that.
